Methyl Ethyl Ketone Peroxide (MEKP) is the catalyst used to initiate curing in unsaturated polyester resins, vinyl ester resins and gelcoats. Essential across composite applications such as FRP products, boat building, automotive parts and laminates, it decomposes on mixing to generate free radicals that start polymerisation — an exothermic reaction that hardens the resin.
