How much will you need?
Two of the three quantities in an FRP job can be worked out from published figures. The third cannot, and this page will not pretend otherwise.
Why there is no resin calculator here
Estimating resin quantity requires a resin-to-glass ratio. We do not publish one — not on any product page and not on any technical data sheet — because the right ratio depends on your laminate design, process, reinforcement and part geometry, and a number invented for a calculator would be worse than no number at all. Nine pages across this site say the same thing, and this page is not going to contradict them.
So the estimator below does only the arithmetic that rests on a published specification, and the resin question goes to a person with your project details in front of them.
Glass fibre mat estimate
Based on the published area weights on the Glass Fiber TDS: CSM 300 is 300 g/m² and CSM 450 is 450 g/m². The calculation is your area × layers × that area weight — nothing is assumed about your laminate beyond the numbers you enter.
Ask for resin quantity guidance
Send us the project and we will work the resin quantity out with you, against your actual laminate and process rather than a generic figure. The more of this you can give us, the more useful the answer:
- What you are making, and roughly how big
- Laminate area and layers — the estimator above gives you the mat weight to quote
- Process — hand lay-up, spray-up, casting, moulding
- Grade, if you already know it, or what the part has to do if you don't
- Delivery location and how often you expect to reorder
