Polyester Gelcoat — General Purpose & Isophthalic
A gelcoat is the outermost layer of an FRP moulding, sprayed or brushed into the mould before any reinforcement goes in. It becomes the visible surface of the finished part and its first line of protection, which is why it is formulated differently from a laminating resin: heavily pigmented, thixotropic enough to hold on a vertical mould face, and made to cure hard and glossy against the tool. Samrat Poly Resins manufactures two published gelcoat grades at Doraha, Punjab.
A gelcoat is not a laminating resin and not a paint. The structural laminate behind it is built with a separate resin, and gelcoat applied to a finished part rather than into a mould will not behave the same way.

General purpose
GP Gelcoat Resin
The standard-duty route for FRP mould work: a white, high-gloss polyester gelcoat for moulded products and surface finishing where the part is not in sustained water contact or long outdoor service. Published TDS, 50 kg and 225 kg packs.

ISO Gelcoat
The grade normally specified where the visible surface has to hold gloss and colour through weathering, water contact or outdoor service — marine topsides, sanitaryware, transport and exterior panels. Its data sheet publishes brush or spray application onto the mould face.
View ISO GelcoatTwo limits worth knowing before you specify. No polyester gelcoat is waterproof; they are all permeable, and permeability rises with temperature, so blister resistance is a property of the whole laminate rather than the coating alone. And for a surface in continuous immersion — a pool shell or a hull bottom — industry practice steps up to an isophthalic-NPG gelcoat, which is a different grade again. If your part is permanently under water, say so in the enquiry rather than assuming an isophthalic gelcoat covers it.
