A Gelcoat Resin selection starts by confirming that the buyer needs the visible mould-facing surface of an FRP part. If the need is to wet out reinforcement and build structural thickness, that is a different laminate-resin discussion.
Match the discussion to the finished component
Document the component and its intended use. A boat component, bathware item, water-tank exterior, automotive panel and general moulding can all have different finish, process and service questions. The product category alone cannot resolve them.
Review process and finish requirements
Confirm the moulding method, whether the product needs a white or coloured finish, and the practical application method. GP Gelcoat Resin is published as a white, high-gloss polyester surface coating; colour and process decisions should be discussed against the actual production setup and TDS.
Keep the laminate requirement separate
A finished FRP product may require both a surface coating and a structural laminate. Where chemical, water-immersion or other demanding service is involved, describe it accurately and confirm the full build-up rather than assuming a gelcoat alone addresses it.
Prepare a quote-ready brief
Share the component, process, finish or colour, exposure, quantity and delivery location. Include the current resin or moulding issue if the enquiry follows a trial. This makes the quote and application discussion more focused without making unsupported performance assumptions.
