GP resin and gelcoat are often requested together, but they should not be treated as two names for the same material. A clear selection starts by separating the job of building the laminate from the job of creating the mould-facing surface.
Quick answer
GP Clear Resin is the general-purpose resin used with glass-fibre reinforcement to form the FRP laminate. GP Gelcoat Resin is the published polyester surface-coating product for the mould-facing side of a part.
In a typical build-up, the surface layer and the structural laminate are selected for different reasons. The production team should identify both requirements rather than asking for a single resin to do both jobs.

Choose GP Gelcoat Resin for the surface
Use the GP Gelcoat Resin page and TDS when the requirement concerns the mould-facing surface coating, finish or surface behaviour.
When the project needs both
Discuss the full sequence, part geometry, process and expected surface result. This helps ensure the laminate and surface layer are considered together without treating them as substitutes.
