Each grade is a distinct, published product with its own technical data sheet; this page is the starting point for choosing the right one.
Grades
Samrat Poly Resins manufactures this GP Resin range at its facility in Doraha, Punjab, India. Established in 2017, the company operates an ISO 9001:2015 certified quality management system. Each grade below is supplied in bulk drum quantities, with published TDS, SDS and minimum order quantity, dispatched across North and East India with export to Nepal and Bangladesh.
What it is
General purpose polyester resin, in plain terms
GP resin is an orthophthalic unsaturated polyester resin supplied as a liquid and cured at room temperature. Across the grades below it is catalysed with MEKP and, where the grade is supplied non-accelerated, brought to cure with a cobalt octoate accelerator — which is what lets the same drum be dosed differently from one job to the next.
“General purpose” describes the intended breadth of use rather than a lower specification: these are the grades used for everyday FRP lamination, moulding and casting work, as opposed to the speciality routes engineered for a single property. Where a job genuinely calls for chemical or corrosion service, or for a fire-performance requirement, the vinyl ester, bisphenol and fire retardant ranges exist for that purpose and should be reviewed instead.

Selection
Choosing between the grades
The practical differences across this family are working time, flow and finished appearance — all three are visible in the table above.
- Working time. Published gel times span roughly 5 Minutes on Lamination Resin (LR Resin) through to 10–15 minutes on GP Yellow Resin — see the table above for each grade. A shorter gel time turns the job around faster; a longer one gives more time to wet out a large or complex lay-up before the resin starts to set.
- Flow and thickness. Viscosity in this family spans thin, free-flowing grades through to markedly thicker ones — thinner resin wets reinforcement out more readily, while a heavier body resists drainage on vertical and overhead surfaces.
- Appearance. The grades differ by supplied colour and clarity — clear, water-white, transparent yellow and high-clarity casting grades — which matters wherever the resin is visible in the finished part. See GP Clear vs GP Yellow.
- Intended use. Several grades are published for a specific job — lamination, engineered stone and quartz casting, or buttons and small mouldings. Start from the finished product you are making rather than from the resin name.
These are the published supply parameters, not a process specification. Confirm dosing, cure schedule and handling against the grade’s current TDS and SDS before production, and tell us the finished component and process when you enquire so the right grade can be confirmed.
