Describe the part before naming a resin
Start the enquiry with the actual component or product: for example, an FRP laminate, panel, door-lamination requirement, mould-facing surface or decorative casting. The part gives a clearer starting point than a broad request for the best resin.
Then state the manufacturing process if known. Hand lay-up, spray-up, lamination, casting and other processes create different product-selection questions, so this context should travel with the RFQ.
Clarify the product role
State whether the purchase is for a general reinforced laminate, a visible mould-side surface, a bonding or lamination task, a button or small decorative casting, or a specialist requirement. This helps separate the published GP, Lamination, Gelcoat, Button, Fire Retardant and Vinyl Ester product roles.
If a customer drawing, tender or internal specification calls for a particular system or requirement, include the original wording. Do not translate a stated performance requirement into a product-grade assumption without review.
Add the commercial details
Include the expected quantity and delivery location, plus the preferred pack or timing information only where it is genuinely known. Product pages publish grade-specific packaging and minimum-order details, so these should be checked after the product role has been narrowed down.
For an ongoing requirement, a buyer can also state whether the request is for evaluation, an initial production order or routine supply. This gives the commercial discussion context without inventing a demand forecast.
Keep the technical decision controlled
Use the TDS for the exact shortlisted grade and retain the application facts with the enquiry. Do not rely on a generic category page, a different product's data or an unapproved process assumption as proof of suitability.
Where technical confirmation is needed, share the component, process, product role, specification wording and observed production context. This creates a focused basis for discussion rather than an open-ended request for any polyester resin.
