A coating pour and a casting pour are different jobs, and they are the reason Samrat publishes two clear epoxy products rather than one. Coating means flooding a thin, even film across a surface that already exists — a table top, a counter, a panel, a finished artwork — and letting it find its own level into a glass-like skin. Furniture makers, interior fabricators, signage and decor workshops and artists apply a clear epoxy coat as the last step on a finished piece. The substrate is already built — timber, ply, MDF, stone, a printed or painted surface, a canvas — and the epoxy is there to seal it, lift the colour underneath and leave a hard gloss the surface could not achieve on its own.

Why Epoxy Art Resin is suitable

Epoxy Art Resin is published as a two-component, water-clear system that mixes at 2:1 to a viscosity of 900-1200 cPs at 25 °C and cures over 24 hours to a high-gloss finish. The TDS describes it as self-levelling with bubble release and UV stabilised, stating that it resists yellowing. Those four properties are precisely what a coating pour needs: thin enough to flow out flat rather than sit where it lands, slow enough to let trapped air rise before it gels, and stabilised so a clear film over a visible surface does not go amber. Manufacturing process

Frequently asked questions

They are published for different roles. Art Resin is the self-levelling coating product, mixed 2:1 and poured as a film over a finished surface. No pour thickness is published for this grade, so no figure should be assumed from a general epoxy description. Thickness, recoat interval and any depth limit belong to the current TDS and to a trial on your own piece. Deep pours are a casting question rather than a coating one.

The TDS states that the grade is UV stabilised and resists yellowing. That is a formulation statement about the supplied resin, not a warranty on a finished piece over a given number of years in a given location. Outdoor and direct-sun exposure should be raised in the enquiry rather than inferred.

Coverage depends on the area and the film thickness you are pouring, neither of which is fixed by the product data. Share the surface dimensions and the number of coats intended along with your enquiry. Epoxy Art Resin is supplied in 15 kg packs with a 100 kg minimum order quantity.

The published data gives a 24-hour cure and a high-gloss finish; it does not publish hardness, scratch resistance, heat resistance or food-contact status.
