When cure is happening faster than expected
If a batch is gelling noticeably faster than a fabricator's usual working window, the most common causes are accelerator or catalyst dosage above the intended amount, a warmer workshop or resin temperature than usual, or a smaller batch mixed with the same dosage meant for a larger one (smaller thermal mass can behave differently under exotherm). Reviewing what's actually changed since the last successful batch — dosage measurement, ambient conditions, batch size — is the practical starting point, rather than assuming the resin itself is faulty.
When cure is happening slower than expected
Slow or incomplete gel is often traced to lower-than-intended accelerator or catalyst dosage, cold ambient or mould temperature, an old or degraded catalyst, or incomplete mixing that leaves parts of the batch under-catalysed. Confirming dosage was measured accurately, and that ambient conditions match what the resin's TDS assumes, are the first checks before adjusting the recipe.
A general troubleshooting approach
Because dosage, temperature and batch size all interact, changing more than one variable at once when diagnosing a problem makes it hard to know what actually fixed (or caused) the issue. A methodical approach — check one variable against the resin's TDS at a time — gets to a reliable answer faster than trial-and-error adjustment of the whole recipe.
