Why the coating chemistry decides the thinner
"Thinner" is a broad category term, and different coating chemistries need solvent blends formulated to match how they dissolve, flow and dry. NC thinner is purpose-built for nitrocellulose lacquer; general-purpose thinner is more commonly associated with oil-based paint systems and general clean-up use. Using the wrong one for a given coating can affect how well it dissolves, sprays, flows and dries — the coating manufacturer's own guidance is the right reference for which thinner to use.
